Is this an image of former PM Jawaharlal Nehru with a British woman before independence? Know the truth.

An image of the former PM Jawaharlal Nehru with a woman is circulating on social media. This is not the first time something like this has happened. Previously, Fact crescendo debunked many such images of Nehru with false and misleading claims.

In this current image, it can be seen Nehru standing holding the neck of a woman. Social media users are claiming that this is an image of Nehru with a British woman before independence 

However, Fact Crescendo found the claim to be misleading. The woman in the image with Jawaharlal Nehru is Jacqueline Kennedy, wife of John F Kennedy.

Fact Check- 

A Google Reverse Image Search led us to the same image tweeted by a user on 27 November 2021. It was mentioned in the tweet that the lady in the image is Jackie Kennedy (Jacqueline Kennedy). 

Same image was found uploaded to the Tumblr website in 2014. According to the caption, this is an image of Jacqueline Kennedy with Jawaharlal Nehru during her tour to New Delhi in 1962.

Keeping the above facts in mind, we did a keyword search on Google. We found another image of Jawaharlal Nehru with the same woman on the Flickr website. This image was uploaded by the US Embassy in New Delhi. According to the information, this image was taken during Jacqueline Kennedy’s friendly visit to India in 1962. In this image, Nehru was applying Tilak on Jacqueline’s forehead. 

We found that the hat, dress and necklace of the woman in the viral post and the above image are the same. Hence, we can say that the image of the woman in the viral post is not of a Britisher but of US President John F Kennedy’s wife Jacqueline kennedy. Below you can see the comparison between both the images. 

Conclusion: 

Fact Crescendo found the claim to be misleading. This is not an image of Nehru with a British woman before independence. The woman in the image is Jacqueline Kennedy, wife of the US President John F Kennedy. This image was taken in 1962 during Jacqueline’s friendly visit to India.
