Amid the ongoing Israel- Palestine conflict, a video is going viral on social media platforms, claiming to be visuals of a massive crowd gathered on the streets of Spain in support of Palestinians. The users who share the video claim that Pro-Palestinian rally in Spain in response to the Israel-Hamas war. The caption states, Spain today. From the river to the sea Palestine will be free. #Freepalestine #FreePalestineFromIsrael

Fact Check- 

We started the investigation with keywords and reverse image search on Google and found that the similar video was posted on twitter on 13 November on the account of Insider Paper with the caption “WATCH – Massive protest across Spain against prime minister Pedro Sanchez’s plans to grant amnesty to Catalan separatists in order to stay in power”.

This makes it clear that the video has no connection to the Israel-Palestine conflict in any way.

In further search, we found the same video uploaded on a YouTube channel named BNN Breaking with the caption: “Protests Erupt Across Spain Over Proposed Amnesty for Catalan separatists”. According to the description of the video, Massive protests light up Spain over proposed amnesty for Catalan separatists. The proposed amnesty for Catalan separatists has led to large-scale protests in Spain, with citizens expressing disillusionment and anger.

We also came across a report published by Reuters on 12 November, 2023 stating the similar facts that protests were held across Spain last day against acting Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez’s plans to grant amnesty to Catalan separatists in exchange for support for another term in office.
