In the backdrop of the Israel and Hamas conflict, a video showing some anti-ship cruise missiles has gone viral on social media with the claim that Hezbollah published footage of their anti-ship missiles as US carrier groups sit in the Eastern Mediterranean. Hezbollah is a Lebanese Shia Islamist political party and militant group.

The caption of the post states, “Hezbollah published footage of their anti-ship missiles as US carrier groups sit in the Eastern Mediterranean. Gaza #GazaGenocide”.

Fact Check- 

We started our investigation by running a reverse image search on one of the key frames on Google, the results led us to the same video on the website of Iran Press News agency which was posted in the year 2019, citing “The video Footage depicting C-802 anti-ship cruise missiles has been resealed for the first time. They belonged to the Lebanese Hezbollah” as its description. 

Upon further investigation, we came across an article from Israel Defense published on 16 September 2019, stating that Hezbollah has released footage taken at a storage facility containing C-802 shore-based anti-ship missiles. It also included a screen grab of viral video.

The same video was also shared on Twitter on August 16, 2019, stating the missile in the viral video as C-704.

Conclusion- Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral video to be Misleading. The video dates back to 2019.Old video of Hezbollah’s C-802 Anti-Ship Cruise Missiles shared linking to recent Israel- Hamas conflict.
