Is this a recent video of an Israeli soldier torturing a Palestine kid? Know the truth.

Currently, a video of a soldier holding a teenage boy at his gunpoint is going viral on social media. While the boy is in fear and pain, the family members can be seen trying to breakfree the boy from the clutches of the soldier. 

Social media users are claiming that this is a recent incident where a Israeli soldier is torturing a Palestinian boy. 

However, Fact Crescendo found the claim to be shared without proper context. This is an old video and not a recent incident.

Sharing the video, a user wrote, “God is the Helper , there is no power nor strength except with God This is how the Zionist occupation deals with the children of Palestine”

Fact Check- 

A Google Reverse Image Search led us to the longer version of the viral video published on The Washington Post in 2015. According to the report, this video shows how an Israeli soldier attempted to arrest a 12-year-old Palestinian boy. Israeli authorities accused the boy of throwing stones. The other people in the video are the boy’s family members.

According to another report, this incident took place in 2015 at the Palestinian village, Nabi Saleh. This video showed a masked Israeli soldier trying to arrest Mohammad Tamimi, a 12-year-old boy with a broken arm. After the incident, Israel defended the soldier saying that he did not know that the boy was a minor. 

An Israeli website also published the video and images of the incident in 2015. The report states that a boy threw stones at Israeli army personnel at Nabi Saleh during a demonstration. After this he was arrested. A girl (detained boy’s sister) bites the Israeli soldier to rescue her brother. 

Conclusion: 

Fact Crescendo found that the video was shared without proper context. Although this is a video of an Israeli soldier trying to detain a Palestinian boy, this is an old incident from 2015. The boy pelted a stone on an Israeli soldier during a demonstration which led to this incident.
