A provocative post to boycott various products in market which are falsely claimed to be Israel’s

Currently, posts on boycotting Israel products are trending on various social media platforms. People are expressing their support towards Palestine by encouraging others to boycott products of Israel. 

In one such post, the names of 19 companies are mentioned. Users are claiming that these 19 companies belong to Israel and people need to boycott it. 

However, fact Crescendo found the claim to be false.

Fact Check- 

We found the details of all the 19 companies that are mentioned in the fact. Below you can see the details. 

KFC: We searched about the history of KFC on its website. We found that KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) was established by Colonel Harland Sander in 1930 in Corbin, Kentucky which is in the USA. The first franchise of KFC was opened in 1952 in Utah, USA. 

McDonalds: McDonald’s first outlet was opened in San Bernardino, California by Maurice and Richard McDonald in 1940. In 1948, they established a proper restaurant. 1954 onwards, multiple outlets of McDonald opened. 

Nike: As per the information provided in Britannica website, Nike was formerly named as Blue Ribbon and was founded in 1964 by Phil Knight and Bill Bowerman. It’s headquarter is in Beaverton, Oregon in the United States. The company Blue Ribbon was renamed as Nike in 1971

Adidas: Adidas started in a small town in Bavaria, Germany. The founder Adi Dassler started the company in his mother’s kitchen. He registered Adi Dassler adidas Sportschuhfabrik in 1949

Tommy Hilfiger: Tommy Hilfiger is an American company founded in 1985 and was named after the owner Thomas Jacob Hilfiger. In 1970, he co-founded People’s Place, which was a fashion store in New York. Later, he joined hands with a businessman Mohan Murjani and introduced his first collection in 1985. 

Gucci: We found that Gucci was founded in 1921 in Florence, Italy. 

Kitkat: Kitkat was founded on 29 August 1935 by Rowntree in York, United Kingdom. Currently, it is owned by Nestle. We also found that Nestle company history begins in 1866. In 1905, the founder Henri Nestle merged his company with Anglo-Swiss and created Nestle Group. Its headquarter is in Vevey, Switzerland. 

Maggi: Maggi was founded in 1884 in Switzerland by Julius Maggi

Oreo: Oreo was founded in 1912 in Chelsea Market in Manhattan in the USA. 

Lays: Lays is an American brand founded by H.W. Lay. It was first started in Nashville, Tennessee in 1932. 

Starbucks: Starbucks was founded in 1971 in Seattle’s Pike Place Market. The name Starbucks was inspired by Moby-Dick tale 

Coca Cola: Coca Cola first started by Dr. John Pemberton in 1886 in Atlanta, USA

Red Bull: Red Bull was founded in 1987 in Thailand. Its headquarter is in Austria

Pepsi: Pepsi is an American company and it was incorporated by the founder Caleb Bradham in 1902. 

Sprite: Sprite was introduced by Coca Cola Company in 1961 in Georgia, USA

We found that none of the companies mentioned in the post are founded in Israel. Hence, these are not Israeli products. 

Conclusion: 

Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. The names of all the companies mentioned in the post are from different countries and not from Israel.
