BBC television series shooting shared as Muslims attacking British Police

The video depicts the production of the BBC crime drama series Bloodlands in Northern Ireland in 2020.

Amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, a video of men attacking a police car with what appear to be Molotov cocktails is going viral on social media with the claim that Jihadists attack British police officers with Molotov cocktails in the UK. The video shows flames engulfing a police car, followed by civilians and what appear to be police officers running from the scene.

The caption of the video states,“Terrorist attack in the UK! Jihadists attack British police officers with Molotov cocktails. Arrest and deportation now. #Israel #HamasTerrorists #Hamas #IsraelPalestineConflict”

Fact Check- 

We started our investigation by running a reverse image search on one of the key frames from the video. The results led us to a news report containing similar images published by Irish news outlet Belfast Live on 30 January, 2020 with a caption “Police car bursts into flames in Ballyclare …but it’s not what it seems,” According to the report the video was captured in Ballyclare, Northern Ireland in 2020, and it showed the BBC crime drama series “Bloodlands” being filmed. 

 As per the Irish Mirror report, “despite some fears that the terrifying video was real, it has emerged that it was merely part of filming for a TV show. The footage is understood to have been captured in Ballyclare, Co Antrim. Northern. Irish actor James Nesbitt was spotted taking part in the scene by eagle-eyed fans, and it is expected that it will form part of the upcoming BBC crime drama Bloodlands”.

In further search, we found the same shot in the official trailer of the show Bloodlands on BBC’s YouTube channel. You can see this visual around the 15-second mark.

Bloodlands is a police procedural television series set in Northern Ireland that premiered on BBC One on 21 February 2021. It was created by Chris Brandon and developed by HTM Television. Northern Irish actor James Nesbitt played the lead role. Bloodlands was filmed mainly in the rural area around Strangford Lough in the east of Northern Ireland.
