Is this a video showing people of the US renounce Chirstian religion and converting to Hinduism? Know the truth

Currently, a video of a multitude of people on the streets is going viral on social media. The crowd can be heard chanting ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna.’ Users are claiming that this video is from the US where the citizens converted to Hinduism. 

However, Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. This video is from London on the occasion of Rath Yatra. 

What’s the claim? 

Sharing the video, social media users are claiming that seven lakhs Christian people in the US renounced their faith at a time and converted to Hinduism and created a world record.

Fact Check- 

We searched on Google using various keywords but did not come across any news about 7 lakhs American Christians converting to Hinduism and creating a world record. 

We took a close look at the viral video. We came to know that people were chanting ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna’ but after sometime they chanted ‘Jai Prabhupada.’’ We know that A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada was the founder of ISKCON and reached NeyYork City in 1965 to spread ancient teaching of Vedic India. 

We also found a Ratha (Chariot) of Lord Jagannath far backside in the video. 

From the above facts it is clear that this is a video of Ratha TYatra organized by ISKCON. But is this a video from the US? 

After a close look at the video, we saw England’s flag on a building on the left side. 

A relevant keyword search on YouTube led us to a video uploaded in 2022. The caption of the video reads, “London Rathayatra 2022.” At a timestamp of 9 minutes, you can see the same building and 2 flags of England on a building that are also visible in the viral video

From the above facts, it is clear that the viral video is from London during the Ratha Yatra festival organized by ISKCON. 

London celebrates Ratha Yatra every year. According to the ISKCON website, more than 13 Ratha Yatra festivals are celebrated every year across the UK. London Rathayatra starts in Hyde Park and ends in Trafalgar Square where there is a large cultural festival.

Conclusion: 

Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. The viral video is from London during the Rath Yatra festival organized by ISKCON. This is not a video from the US and there is no such news about 7 lakh Christians in the US converting to Hindu religion
