Ashok Gehlot’s government pay only 5 lakhs as compensation to Kanhaiya Lal’s family after his murder? Know the truth.

A few days back, an 18-year-old boy from a minority community lost his life in a fight after an accident in Rajasthan. The state government announced a compensation of 50 lakhs rupees and a contractual job for the victim’s family.

In the backdrop of this, an image of a cheque of 50 lakh rupees issued in the name of Naima Parveen is going viral on social media. As the victim was from a minority community, netizens are claiming that the Congress government in Rajasthan is biased. The government issued 50 lakh rupees in compensation for a minority family but issued only 5 lakh rupees in the Kanhaiya Lal murder case.

However, Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. A compensation of 50 lakh rupees was also given to Kanhaiya Lal’s family.

What’s the claim?

Social media users are claiming that “the government has announced compensation of 50 lakh rupees for Iqbal who was killed in a personal fight in Ramganj, Jaipur, and 5 lakh compensation was given when Kanhaiya Lal was murdered in Udaipur. This is the discrimination of Congress.”

Fact Check-

A Google keyword search led us to a notice released by the Rajasthan government on 30 June 2022 after Kanhaiya Lal’s murder. It was mentioned that CM Ashok Gehlot visited the late Kanhaiya Lal’s house and paid tribute to his picture. Later, he met his family and assured them of fast justice and harsh punishment for the culprits. On the Chief Minister’s instruction, minister of State for Home, Shri Rajendra Yadav presented a cheque of 50 lakhs to Kanhaiya Lal’s family.

On 30 June 2022, The Free Press Journal reported that, CM Ashok Gehlot met deceased Kanhaiya Lal’s family and stayed with them for a while. He met Kanhaiya Lal’s wife and son and gave them a cheque of 50 lakhs rupees from the government. He also promised a government job to the deceased’s son. He demanded a fast-track probe into Kanhaiya Lal’s murder case and harsh punishment for the culprits within a month.

Navbharat Times, on its YouTube Channel, reported that CM Ashok Gehlot went to the deceased tailor Kanhaiya Lal’s house. He gave a cheque of 51 lakhs rupees to the victim’s family and announced a government job to both the sons of Kanhaiya Lal

What is the recent case?

According to a report, a fight broke out between two bikers after they collided with each other in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The residents of the locality tried to stop the fight but the victim started fighting with them as well and the other person on the bike fled from the place. 18-year-old Iqbal lost his life in the fight. Police and Special Task Force (STF) rushed to the spot. The state government had announced a compensation of 50 lakhs rupees, a dairy booth, and a contractual job to the victim’s family.

Conclusion:

Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. A cheque of 50 lakhs rupees was given to Kanhaiya Lal’s family after his demise last year and not 5 lakhs.
