False information related to Manmohan Singh and Rahul Gandhi Shared to defame them.

Currently, a post with the birthdays of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going viral on social media. Users are claiming that Dr. Manmohan Singh’s birthday coincides with the day of celebration of International Deaf-Blind Day on September 26.

The birthday of Sonia Gandhi falls on the Anti-corruption day on 9 December. Rahul Gandhi’s birthday is on the same day the movie Mera Naam Joker was released in 1970 i.e. on 18 December, whereas the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on 17 December on the occasion of Lord Vishwakarma Diwas.

However, Fact Crescendo found that the claim is not completely true. The birthdays of Dr. Manmohan Singh and Rahul Gandhi were falsely shared to defame them.

Fact Check-

There are four claims in the post. To know the truth, we fact-checked these claims separately.

Claim 1: Dr. Manmohan Singh’s birthday and International Blind-Deaf Day falls on the same date

First, we searched for Dr. Manmohan Singh’s birthday. We found that Manmohan Singh was born on 26 September 1932 in the Punjab province of the undivided India. He served as Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014.

According to Britannica, Manmohan Singh was born on 26 September. On 26 September NDTV reported that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished Manmohan Singh his 91st birthday on the same day.

But, does International Blind-Deaf Day fall on 26 September? According to the World Federation of the Blind Deaf (WFBD), 27 June is celebrated as the International Day of Deafblindness to increase public awareness of people with deafblindness and their rights.

Hence, it is clear that former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh’s birthday and International Deafblindness Day does not fall on same date.

Claim 2: Sonia Gandhi’s Birthday and International Anti-Corruption Day fall on 9 December.

According to The Times of India report, on 9 December 2022, Sonia Gandhi celebrated her birthday in Ranthambore in Rajasthan with Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi during Bharat Jodo Yatra.

Mallikarjun Kharge, President of Indian National Congress also wished Sonia Gandhi on her birthday on 9 December 2022. Below you can see his tweet.

We also found that United Nations designated 9 December as International Anti-Corruption Day to raise awareness of corruption and how to prevent and combat it. This day became effective in 2005.

Thus, we can say that Sonia Gandhi’s birthday and International Anti-Corruption Day fall on the same date.

Claim 3: Rahul Gandhi’s Birthday and the movie Mera Naam Joker fall on the same date.

As per the information available on Indian National Congress website, Rahul Gandhi was born on 19 June 1970.

According to IMDB, the movie ‘Mera Naam Joker’ was released on 18 December 1970. The same movie was released in Brazil and in Peru in 1982, in 1974 and 1982 it was released in Argentina and in Turkey respectively.

Thus, it is clear that Mera Naam Joker did not release on the same day Rahul Gandhi was born.

Claim 4: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Birthday and Vishwakarma Jayanti fall on the same day.

We found that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was born on 17 September 1950 in Gujarat’s Vadnagar. This year on his 73rd birthday many ministers wished him and a digital celebration was also organized on this occasion.

We also found that Vishwakarma Jayanti falls on 17th or 18th of September every year according to the Hindu calendar. This year Vishwakarma Jayanti was celebrated on 17 September, the day of PM Modi’s birthday.

Thus, it is true that Vishwakarma Jayanti and PM Modi’s birthday fall on the same date.

Conclusion:

Fact Crescendo found that the claim is partially false. Although Sonia Gandhi and PM Modi’s birthday fall on the same date and occasion as claimed in the post but, information related to birthdays of Manmohan Singh and Rahul Gandhi is false.
