The image of Rahul Gandhi wearing a Porter badge bearing the number 420 is morphed.

Recently Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited the Anand Vihar Terminal in Delhi and met on-duty porters. He wore the porters’ red t-shirt and sat among them and discussed their problems. Rahul Gandhi was also spotted lifting up luggage. 

In the backdrop of this, an image of Rahul Gandhi wearing the porters’ shirt and badge is going viral on social media. One such image shows him wearing Porter badge number 420. Social media users took this opportunity to mock him. One user wrote, “After interacting, they regard him with a badge carrying the number 420”

However, fact Crescendo found that the real image was morphed.

Fact Check- 

A keyword search on Google led us to the official Instagram account of Rahul Gandhi where he uploaded the image of the event on 21 September 2023. He wrote, “Today I met coolie brothers who work at Anand Vihar Terminal. I wanted to meet them for a long time and they also called me with love.”

To verify the claim, we zoomed in on the badge that Rahul Gandhi was wearing using Google Magnifier. We found that Licensed Porter No. 756 was written on the badge and not 420. Below you can see the image. 

Apart from this, we found a video uploaded on Live Hindustan’s official YouTube channel on 21 September 2023. In this video, we can hear the leader of the coolie saying that Rahul Gandhi wore his badge bearing number 756 in the Anand Vihar Terminal. You can hear him from 0.15 minutes to 1.40 minutes. 

According to The India Express report, Rahul Gandhi met Porter’s at Anand Vihar Terminal in Delhi. There he spoke to the Porters and listened to the various issues they were facing. Later, he wore Porters’ uniform (Redshirt) with a badge bearing number 756 and carried luggage on his head. 

Conclusion: 

Fact Crescendo found that the viral image is morphed. In the real image, Rahul Gandhi was wearing a badge bearing number 756 and not 420.
