Fact Check-

Our investigation began with a reverse image search of key frames from the viral video, which led us to the same video uploaded on a YouTube channel named “Solo Catecumenos” on 6 August, 2023.According to this channel, the video was taken during the 2023 edition of World Youth Day (JMJ2023), an annual Catholic festival held in Lisbon, Portugal.

This indicates that the incident occurred about one month ago and so cannot reflect Morocco’s present situation.

In further search we found a report of France 24  published on 6 August 2023 regarding this event. As per the report over 1.5 million people gathered at Tejo Park in Lisbon on August 5 to participate in World Youth Day presided over by Pope Francis. The event lasted from August 1 to 6, with young Catholics from around the world arriving on August 5, planning to spend the night until the final mass on Sunday. The Pope made his appearance in the ‘Popemobile’ shortly after 19:00 GMT for this prayer vigil that resembled a giant festival.

We also came across visuals related to this event in a video report of France 24 which shows visuals of attendees sleeping in the open at Tejo Park.

Conclusion

Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral video to be False. The viral video is related to World Youth Day, a Catholic festival which took place in Lisbon, Portugal. It does not depict the aftermath of the Morocco earthquake.
