Fact Check-

Our investigation began with a reverse image search of key frames from the viral video, which led us to the same video uploaded on Twitter by Adana city on 12 February, 2023 with the caption “In Adana’s Çukurova district, the Kubilay apartment building opposite Gündoğdu College, half of which was destroyed in the second earthquake, was demolished in a controlled manner” (translated from Turkish)

This indicates that the incident occurred about seven months ago and so cannot reflect Morocco’s present condition.

In further search we found media reports about this incident. Back in February, a series of earthquakes claimed more than 50,000 lives across Turkey and Syria.

According to a Turkish media report, the Kubilay Apartment in Adana’s Cukurova district in Turkey was demolished in a controlled manner after it was destroyed by the earthquakes.

As per the report the Kubilay apartment building, was located on Turgut Özal Boulevard in the Huzurevleri suburbs of the Çukurova district of Adana. As the structure was partially damaged in the earthquake that killed nearly 378 people in Adana alone, the authorities carried out a controlled demolition of the damaged building. The report mentioned that hundreds of people flocked to witness the controlled demolition and were watching it from a safe distance at a nearby cemetery.

Below you can see a Screenshot of the image from the report on the controlled demolition of the Kubilay apartment building.
