Indonesian public transport campaign shared as zombie virus outbreak in China

This video is from a campaign by the rail transit agency in Indonesia to promote the use of public transport.

A video that shows what appears to be frightened passengers aboard a train screaming and attempting to flee as supposed zombies try to get inside. The video has gone viral on social media, claiming that it depicts the zombie virus outbreak in China. It is written on the video, ‘Zombie virus has reached Northern China’.

Fact Check- 

A reverse image search with the key frames of the viral video led us to a larger version of this video on the YouTube page of an Indonesian news website called ‘Bangka Pos Official’. The video was uploaded there on 9August, 2022.

It has been told in the report that this scene is from an event named ‘Train to Apocalypse’ in Jakarta.  

In further search we discovered similar images in a media report dated August 2022. According to these reports, the video was part of a campaign to promote public transport in Jakarta, Indonesia. ‘Train to Apocalypse,’ the campaign was named. The campaign was organised between August 5 and September 11, 2022, by an event company called Pandora Box in partnership with Jakarta’s light rail transit agency. 

According to Gulf News, this event was inspired by the South Korean film ‘Train to Busan’. In the film, which was released in 2016, the terror of zombies was shown on a moving train. Based on the reports, Jakarta, with a population of over 30 million people, suffers from severe pollution and some of the world’s worst traffic congestion. Its light rapid transit system only becomes operational in December 2019.

Taking account of these evidences we can clearly understand that the purpose of attracting the youth towards public transport, the video of the zombie train run in Jakarta is being shared as the attack of zombie virus in China.

Conclusion- 

Fact crescendo found the claim made along with this video to be Misleading. This video does not show Zombie virus outbreak in China. This video is from a campaign by the rail transit agency in Indonesia to promote the use of public transport.
