Inauguration of the Masjid inside Telangana Secretariat premise shared without complete truth.

Currently, a video is going viral on social media in which it was claimed that the Telangana government constructed and inaugurated a new Masjid inside the state secretariat premise. Many users took a dig at the current government and accused them for their biases towards the minority community. 

Fact Crescendo found that the claim is not complete truth and missing the context. K.Chandrasekhar Rao government had inaugurated a Temple, Masjid and Church inside the secretariat premise. 

Whats’s the claim? 

Sharing the video, social media users are claiming, “CM K.Chandrasekhar Rao inaugurated the newly constructed Masjid inside the secretariat premise. Selfish Hindus, if you will vote for the party which pleases Muslim community, then this is what you will get.”

Fact Check- 

A Google keyword search led us to a report published by NDTV on 25 August 2023. According to the report, a temple, masjid and a church were inaugurated in Telangana’s new secretariat complex. Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao was also present there and attended special prayers held in these places of worship. 

CM KCR had said that the three places of worship inside the secretariat is an example of harmony and brotherhood for the entire country. The new secretariat was inaugurated by CM KCR on April 30. 

Further search led us to a tweet by Mission Telangana. In the tweet, we can see the images of CM KCR visiting the temple. The tweet reads, “Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and CM KCR attended the inauguration ceremony of Nalla Pochamma Temple in the premises of the Telangana Secretariat.”

Another user tweeted the images of CM and other members of different political parties of Telangana gathered at the mosque after its inauguration. The user wrote, “Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, CM KCR, AIMIM Chief AsaduddinOwaisi & Floor leader AkbaruddinOwaisi Participated in Inauguration of Secretariat Mosques.” 

In his speech at the mosque, CM KCR can be heard saying, “This is a moment of joy and as we have prayed for harmony and brotherhood to continue in the Telangana state, now the government will maintain it, I congratulate all the Muslims in the country on the occasion of the inauguration of the mosque. I wish everywhere in the country temples, mosques and churches will be built.Our secretariat is a great example of how brothers from these religions work and worship together.”

We also found an 8 hour long video of the whole event on T News Telugu’s YouTube channel. This video started with the scene of prayer in the temple inside the Telangana Secretariat. At 2.50 hours, you can see CM KCR entering the secretariat and heading straight to the temple. There he prayed for sometime and participated in the rituals. At 3.10 hour, you can see him attending Church service with other people. Finally at 3.14 hour, he entered the mosque and participated in the prayer. Later he delivered his speech. 

Conclusion: 

Fact Crescendo found that the claim was shared without proper and incomplete context. A Temple, Mosque and a Church were inaugurated inside the Telangana premise and CM KCR attended prayer at all the three places of worship.
