After the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3’s Vikram lander on the moon on August 23, everyone is curious to know what the Earth will look like from the moon. A few photos have gone viral on social media claiming to be of the Earth from the lunar surface.
The images are being shared on social media platforms with captions stating that these were sent by the Vikram Lander from the Moon.
Fact Check Methodology
We started our investigation by running a reverse image search on the viral photos.
We found the same images on the Zeenews website. The site mentions that the photos are AI-generated (Artificial intelligence) views of the Earth from the moon.
We also found the same images on the DNA India website, where it is mentioned that these are AI-generated images.
Please read here.
We checked ISRO’s official social media accounts for photos and videos sent from the Chandrayaan-3, but couldn’t find the viral images on any of them.
Conclusion:
Fact Crescendo found that the images being shared with the claim that they are of the earth from the lunar surface are actually AI generated and were not sent by the Vikram Lander. The claim is False.
