Video of Hindu Sena member shared as Manipur Governor attending the RSS event

The woman in the video is a member of the Hindu Sena and not the Manipur Governor, Anusuiya Uikey. And the event was not organised by the RSS.

A video showing a woman attending a protest against alleged Narco terrorism by the Kuki community of Manipur has gone viral on social media. The video depicts a group of people where a man is addressing the gathering and a lady is sitting beside him, who is claimed to be Anusuiya Uikey, Governor of Manipur by social media users. The video has been shared with the claim that the Governor of Manipur is attending an RSS-sponsored meeting to spread hatred against the minority Kukis.

The caption states, “Why is the Manipur Governor attending a RSS sponsored meeting spreading hate against the minority Kukis?”

The video was also tweeted with the same caption on the official account of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Sevadal.

Fact Check-

When we checked to verify if the Governor of Manipur, Anusuiya Uikey, participated in the Kuki community’s protest against Narco terrorism, we found out that the woman in the video is not the Governor of Manipur. Manipur Police quoted the viral post to clarify that the woman seated is not the Governor of Manipur. The tweet reads   “The lady seated is not the Governor of Manipur as has been posted. 1. FIR will be taken up at cyber crime PS 2. Twitter has been requested to take down the post”.

In further search we found Cyber Crime Manipur uploaded a comparison of the image of the lady seen in the video with that of the Manipur Governor. The post states that “Her Excellency the Governor of Manipur is playing a pivotal role in bringing peace in Manipur and she is on regular basis meeting members of both communities. Any post that can tarnish her neutral role can hamper the peace process in the state. Further, the lady in the video is not the Governor of Manipur. In the interest of peace in Manipur, it is kindly requested to all to desist from propagating false information/narrative and contribute only in Peace Process”.

Meanwhile we searched for information related to this program on Facebook, and we found a post dated 10th August by Sohan Giri, the founder president of National Interest Paramount Organisation. Many pictures of this program were present in this post. The same woman who is being promoted as the Governor of Manipur can be seen in these pictures.

For the clarification we contacted Sohan Giri to know more about this program. He informed us that the viral claim is completely false. “On August 8, I had organized this program on behalf of an organization that is in the interest of the nation. The program was organized at Sainik Farm in Saket, Delhi. The Governor of Manipur was not present in this program and the woman in the video is a member of Hindu Sena.” Apart from this, it was also clarified that this program was not sponsored by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

Conclusion-

Fact Crescendo found that the claim made along with the viral video to be False. We found that the woman in the video is a member of the Hindu Sena and not the Manipur Governor, Anusuiya Uikey. And the event was not organised by the RSS.
