The video of a tiger taking a bath in a bathtub at a coffee plantation is from North Carolina in US, not from Coorg in Karnataka

The video is from Carolina Tiger Rescue sanctuary in North Carolina, US, and it dates back to June 2020. 

Tigers are some of the most amazing creatures on the world, as well as one of nature’s most powerful and feared predators. A video of a tiger sitting in a rubber tub filled with water in a forest area has gone viral on social media, with the claim that the tiger was spotted at a coffee plantation in Coorg, Karnataka.

In the video, we can see the tiger inspecting a black-coloured tub filled with water. After standing at a point for a few seconds, it walks around the tub, carefully inspecting the sides and perhaps the sturdiness of the tub. Once the tiger is seemingly satisfied, it is seen stepping inside the tub and relaxing in it. The caption of the video states, “At a coffee plantation in Coorg in Southern India. A visitor inspects his bath”.

Fact Check-

A simple reverse image search on Google using the key frames from the viral video led us to a tweet by an organization called Carolina Tiger Rescue based in the United States. The organization uploaded this video of the tiger taking a bath on all their social media accounts on 11June, 2020. The caption to their post reads “Madonna Tiger received her pool yesterday! Pools are one of the ways we help the cats stay cool during the summer, and clearly they love it. Madonna, while known for her hiding and stalking skills, may be easier to find now that she has her summertime tub to relax in!”

In further search we found the same video uploaded by Carolina Tiger Rescue on YouTube on 28 May, 2021, which was filmed from a different angle. The video was titled “Madonna Tiger gets her pool (2021)”, and the description states “Last year, our video of Madonna Tiger receiving her first pool of the summer went viral on Facebook!! It’s been viewed 5 million times and liked by nearly 150,000 people. So, we’d be remiss if we didn’t share Madonna’s first pool video from this year!”

According to the website of Carolina Tiger Rescue, Madonna the tiger was rescued from Alabama, a southeastern region of the United States in September 2014 and who passed away recently this year,

Conclusion-

Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral video to be False. The video is neither from India nor recent. The video is from Carolina Tiger Rescue sanctuary in North Carolina, US, and it dates back to June 2020.
