Video Of Makeup Workshop Shared As A Live Test By The Groom’s Family To Test The Bride’s Beauty.

The viral video shows a make-up artist demonstrating waterproof makeup in a bridal workshop held in Bangalore, not a real test of the bride’s beauty by the groom’s family.

Regardless of how advanced society is, we occasionally hear that the complexion and looks of the bride at the time of the wedding are still essential to some grooms and their families. A video of a woman dressed as a bride dipping her face in a bowl full of water and while another woman wiped off her makeup with tissue paper. All the people sitting there start clapping, which is going viral on social media. The words written on the viral video is translated as “The groom’s family makes sure that she is divine beauty, not makeup”. This video is shared to claim that it is a live test by the groom’s family to check if her beauty is natural at a wedding. Caption of the video states “The “check if her beauty is natural test” live at a wedding done by the groom’s family”.

Fact Check-

A Google reverse image search using the key frames from the viral video led us to a video published in September 2022 on a YouTube channel. The logos of this YouTube channel and the viral video appear to be similar. The description of the shorts asks the name of this strange custom in wedding traditions.

When we carefully analysed the comment part of the shorts, we found comments such as the waterproof make-up advertisement, and with this hint, we proceeded with our search.

In further search, we found the original video on the Instagram page of a makeup artist named N.D.Asmitha. Her page asmithamakeoverartistry uploaded this video on 20April, 2022 with the caption “Waterproof makeup demonstrated for my Bangalore participants”. We also found a couple of other videos that show waterproof makeup on her page.

The artist featured in the video was identified as Rithika Shetty and her photos in the same attire also featured on the Facebook page of Asmitha Makeover Artistry.

Conclusion

Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral video to be Misleding. The viral video shows a make-up artist demonstrating waterproof makeup in a bridal workshop held in Bangalore, not a real test of the bride’s beauty by the groom’s family.
