Is this a video of a tree with its roots hanging in the air? Know the truth.

Currently, a video of a tree is going viral on social media platforms. It can be seen in the video that the root of the tree along with the trunk is not attached to the ground and is suspended in the air. Social media users are claiming it to be a miracle. 

We also received the video of this tree on our Whats App Fact Line number 9049053770. It was claimed that this is a miraculous tree that is hanging in the air detached from the soil and still alive. 

Upon searching on Facebook we found that videos about the tree with the same claim were viral on social media in the last few years. In one such video, we can see a lady sitting near the tree and saying that this tree is a proof of miracle in our nature. The roots of the tree are attached to the soil but the truck is detached from the roots and hanging in the air.

Fact Check- 

After a keyword search on YouTube, we found a video of the same tree uploaded on the Haryana 36 Live channel. Here we can hear the reporter mentioning that people started to believe this tree to be a miraculous one but nobody provided the actual fact of the tree. He also mentioned that people are only sharing the video of the tree from a particular angle where only the suspended part of the tree is visible which is giving the impression that this is a hanging tree. But when the video was taken from another angle it is clearly visible that the suspended part of the tree is actually attached to the main tree which is well rooted in the soil. 

On searching about the tree and the temple on Google Maps, we found an 8-second video of the tree. It is clearly visible that the hanging portion of the tree is attached to the main tree which is properly rooted in the soil. After this we came to know that the viral video did not show the complete tree but only a portion of it.

As we know, it is impossible for any tree to be alive without nutrients from a source, so fact Crescendo contacted the Department of Botany, of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathawada University based in Aurangabad. Prof. Milind Vavle said,“plants make glucose from water and atmospheric carbon dioxide to produce nutrients to survive.For this, plants rely on cells; each cell of the plant is independent, and they have a property called totipotency that allows them to perform the function of any part of the organ. The viral video shows a banyan tree growing on the branch of another plant. This type is called an epiphyte. The banyan tree uses other plants to produce its own food. That is why the banyan tree is still alive.”

Conclusion: 

Fact Crescendo found the claim to be misleading. The tree in the viral video is not hanging in the air being detached from the root. This tree has branched out from a nearby tree and standing in its support. This is an incomplete video that was only taken from a particular angle to show the tree floating in the air.
