Is the woman in the army uniform in the photo Seema Haider? Know the truth.

A strange thing happened recently. A Pakistani woman, Seema Haider, fell in love with a young man from India through the mobile game PUBG. She entered India illegally from Pakistan to meet the boy. Discussions are going on in our country about this incident. Police are currently investigating the case.

Many posts about this are going viral on social media. One such post has surfaced which includes Seema’s current photo along with an old photo of a lady in army uniform. It is claimed that the woman in the army uniform in the photo is Seema Haider and that she was an army officer in Pakistan.

However, Fact Crescendo found the viral claim to be false. The woman in the police uniform in the photo is not Seema Haider. She is Tamil Nadu’s first woman police SI, Usha Rani Narendra.

What’s the claim? 

Sharing the image, social media users are claiming that this is the image of Seema Haider whose real name is Samia Rehman. She was an officer in the Pakistan army and was promoted and joined Pakistan’s Intelligence Bureau.

Fact Check- 

In our research, we first did a Google reverse image search of viral photos. As a result, we found the same photo published on a website. According to the website, the lady in the photo is Tamil Nadu’s first female police officer SI Usharani Narendra when she assumed her post in 1973. In 2021, she was given a special invitation during the inauguration ceremony of the Police Museum by CM M.K. Stalin. 

Keeping the above information in mind, we searched Google using various keywords. As a result, we found a photo of the same woman published on the Times of India website in 2021. According to reports, the woman’s name is Usharani Narendra. She is one of the first 21 women SI in the country. In 2021, she was invited to the inauguration ceremony of the Tamil Nadu Police Museum and took a photo with Chief Minister MK Stalin. She was appointed as SI in 1973. Earlier, she was Indira Gandhi’s chief security officer during her visit to Tamil Nadu.

Further, we contacted the Tamil Nadu Police Museum. After we sent them the viral link and photo, they informed us that the woman in police uniform in the photo is Usharani Narendra who was appointed as the first woman police SI in 1973. The identification of the photo with any other person is factually incorrect.

Conclusion: 

Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. The lady wearing the army uniform in the viral post is not Seema Haider but Tamil Nadu Police’s first woman SI Usha Rani Narendra.
