Old video from Brazil shared as Indian soldiers caught a terrorist in Srinagar

Video shows a 2021 police chase in Brazil, not Srinagar. 

A video of a man being bravely subdued by the army is now circulating widely on social media. The content of the video shows an SUV making a U-turn with its beacon light and siren sounding and the officer getting out of it jumps and kicks a man who is trying to escape on a bike. Caption of the post states that,  “Kashmir Srinagar a terrorist was pinned down with one kick on his chest by an Indian soldier before the terrorist could remove something from his chest. Salute to our Soldier”.

Fact Check- 

A reverse image and keyword search on Google led us to a report on the website Viraltab News on 3 August 2021.The incident on which the video is based took place in Brazil. Video shows the visuals of police subduing a young man in front of the Brazilian municipality of Perola. It was shot by one of the people gathered at the scene. According to the explanation of the Police, during the police patrol, they tried to arrest a biker who suspected him of engaging in illegal activities. But he tried to pass quickly with the bike. When he rode his bike dangerously through a busy road with many pedestrians and other vehicles, he was chased by force and subdued by the Police. Moreover, this young man, who is only 17 years old, drove the vehicle dangerously without having a license.

In further search we found an Instagram post by dated 2 August, 2021. Carrying a longer version of the viral footage, it stated, “Don’t run away from PMPR!” PMPR indicates Military Police of Parana in Brazil.

We came across a video report by RICtv, dated August 3, 2021. The description states “He was running away from the police and crashed into the car. When he got up to give his foot he was hit by the feet of the policeman who gave the fleeing a flying. The boy is under age; his father was called to answer for the situation”.

Conclusion- 

Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the video to be False. The video does not show Indian soldiers catching a terrorist in Srinagar. The video shows a 2021 police chase in Brazil, not related to Srinagar.
