At least 37 people have been injured, four of whom are in a critical condition, after a gas explosion sparked a blaze in buildings in the Latin Quarter of Paris. The explosion tore through Rue Saint-Jacques, which runs from the Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral to the Sorbonne University.Amidst this we have noticed a viral video showing The video shows an enormous fireball shooting into the sky. Fact Check-
Our investigation began with a reverse image search of key frames from the viral video, which led us to the “On Demand News” YouTube channel. According to the video’s description, the explosion occurred on 10 August, 2020, at a petrol station in Volgograd. Further, it mentioned that 13 people were injured in this incident, including four employees from EMERCOM, a Russian government agency overseeing civil emergency services.
We searched more with the keywords and found multiple reports of the incident. The explosion took place in the Traktorozavodsky district of Volgograd.
According to a report in The Independent, the initial fire was believed to have been sparked by a discharge of static electricity as fuel was pumped from a tanker to an underground storage tank. Staff had reportedly evacuated the station before the blast went off and caused a larger blaze, which spread over 1,000 square metres.
Russian state-controlled media outlet RT uploaded a different video of the explosion on 10 August 2020 on their official Twitter handle.
