The viral video of a ship being attacked by a giant shark in Canada is an animated video created by a digital creator named Alexi and does not show any actual incident.

A 40-second video of a boat being attacked by a giant shark and split in two in Canada is going viral on social media. Users claim that it shows a real incident where a shark destroyed a ship in Canada recently. The video appears to have been captured from another ship which is later hit by the debris of the destroyed ship.

By performing a reverse image search using the video’s key frames we discovered that user @AlekseyN11 first posted the video on his official Twitter page on March 10, 2023. He captioned the video as, “I’m finally done! #megalodon #meg #animation #digitalart #CGI #3D”. Alexey works as a digital creator and AI designer. Using 3D Max technology, he made this animation using Megalodon, an extinct shark species with huge teeth. 

Aleksey, who has 434K followers on Instagram (@aleksey__n), uploaded the same video there also on 9 March 2023.

We also came across a few media reports  containing this video clip’s screenshots.

Furthermore, after searching for recent shipwreck incidents in Canada using specific keywords, we were unable to locate any information about them. The Florida Museum yearly documents shark attack incidents worldwide on their site as ‘International shark attack file’. The 2022’s summary report can be read here.
