Video of a train running on a railway bridge from China viral as train test run on Chenab Bridge.

According to ANI, a small test run of a train on Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link was conducted on 21 March 2023. 

In the backdrop of this, a short video of a train running on a high altitude bridge connecting two mountains is going viral on social media. Netizens are claiming that this is the video of a train running on Chenab bridge. 

However, fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. This is a video from China and not the bridge constructed over Chenab valley in India. 

What’s The Claim?

Social media users are claiming that the viral video shows the successful test run of a train on world’s highest railway track under construction on Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link on Chenab river in Jammu and Kashmir.

Fact Check- 

A Google Reverse Image Search on a keyframe of the viral video led us to a website where we saw the same bridge. According to the report, this is a visual of Shuihong Railway Beipanjiang bridge located in China. It is located on the Beipanjiang River Valley at the junction of Yingpan Township and Xinjie Township in Shuicheng District, Liupanshui City. It is a single-track railway bridge. The bridge is 468.20 meters long. The height between the bridge and the river surface is 280 meters.

After this we compared the image of the railway bridge from viral video and the one we found in media websites. We found many similarities. In both the images, the color of the arc, the structure of the cliff and the valley are similar. Below you can see the comparison between both the images. 

We found multiple images of the same bridge in another website. As per the information, this bridge is in function since 2001 and is located in Guizhou, China. 

We located the same bridge in Google Map, which you can see below. 

We also looked for images of railway bridge constructed over Chenab valley. A video uploaded on Times of India YouTube channel on 27 March 2023 showed the complete view of the bridge. We can see the difference between the bridge in this video and the viral video.

Conclusion: 

Fact Crescendo found the viral claim to be false. The railway bridge in the viral video is from China and not of Chenab Bridge. A video of a train running on a railway bridge from China viral as train test run on Chenab Bridge.
