On February 20, just two weeks after a series of earthquakes killed thousands and displaced millions in Turkey and Syria, a 6.4-magnitude tremor struck the two countries' border region. Following this, several people on social media have begun to share aerial footage of a 300-kilometer-long fissure that they claim appeared as a result of the recent quakes in the Turkey-Syria region.

Fact Check-
A Google reverse image search using the viral video's key frames led us to an Instagram post from 6 December 2021 that shows the longer version of the viral video. This confirmed that the video is old and unrelated to the recent earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.
Further investigation revealed that the same video was uploaded to YouTube on November 4, 2022.The translated title of the video mentioned that these visuals were from China's Pinglu County.
We came across another video on YouTube that was posted on November 19, 2022. According to the description, “In Pinglu County, Yuncheng, Shanxi Province, there is such a gully that separates the houses on both sides. Looking down from the sky, the gully stretches continuously and can't be seen at a glance”.
Moreover, according to Pinglu County on Google Earth here, it can be seen that the geographical settings in this area are exactly like that of the viral video, hence confirming the location of the viral video is in China.

The earthquakes can sometimes cause new faults to form or existing faults to shift, resulting in additional seismic activity in the area. Similarly, following the massive earthquakes in the Turkey-Syria border region, horrifying images of cracks in the ground went viral on social media. This footage is from Hatay Province, Turkey, where an olive grove was split in two after deadly earthquakes, creating a 300-meter-long canyon-like rift that now divides the area.
