This fabricated cover was not shared by People magazine, but by a satirical social media account.

An image of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the cover of People magazine has gone viral on social media, displaying the alleged cover, with text beneath that reads, “Following TIME ‘Man Of The Year’ Win, Zelensky Also Snags People Magazine’s ‘Sexiest Man Alive’.” Sharing this image, users claim that the People Magazine has awarded Volodymyr Zelenskyy as the ‘Sexiest Man Alive.’

Fact Check-

Upon investigation, we found that Ukraine’s president was indeed named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year in December. Time magazine named President Volodymyr Zelensky as well as “the spirit of Ukraine” as its 2022 person of the year, for the resistance the country has shown in the face of Russia’s invasion.

But, we could not find any news about him being named People Magazine’s ‘Sexiest Man Alive’.

Upon further search, we found out that People Magazine named actor Chris Evans as the ‘sexiest man alive’ in November 2022.

Chris Evans, is an American actor gained wider recognition for his portrayal of Steve Rogers / Captain America in several Marvel Cinematic Universe films. From Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) to Avengers:Endgame (2019) established him as one of the world’s highest-paid actors.

Following that, we carefully examined the image and discovered that the fabricated cover featured a ‘GettingTriggeredUSA’ watermark. With that in mind, we conducted a keyword search and discovered a social media page that describes itself as satire/parody. The same image we found there.

Taking account of all this evidence, we can clearly say that the viral image is a fabricated cover and was not shared by People magazine, but by a satirical social media account.
