Fact Check-

We started our investigation by running a reverse image search on Google on one of the key frames of the viral video. The results led us to the same video posted on YouTube on 31 May 2020 with the caption “China and Indian Army fight at Pangong Lake Ladakh 2020.” This video is a longer version of the viral video. The location of this video is mentioned to be from Ladakh.

Next, we found a report by India Today which had posted screenshots of the viral video on 1 June 2020. According to the report, the video is from the banks of Ladakh’s Pangong Tso, which is one of the standoff points. This video was released in unison across a group of anonymous handles, depicting a violent clash following a Chinese Army group arriving in a Humvee-type vehicle.

Army spokesperson Colonel Aman Anand told reporters, “It has been brought to our notice that a video is doing the rounds in social media of an incident at the borders. The contents of the video being circulated are not authenticated. Attempt to link it with the situation on the northern borders is malafide”.

This report was published on 1 June 2020.

Since the video is available on the internet since 2020, it is clear that the viral video does not show a recent scuffle between the Indian army soldiers and the PLA soldiers in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh.

Conclusion-

Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral video to be False. The video dates back to 2020 and has no relation with the recent clash between Indian and Chinese troops that took place in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh on 9 December.
