Movie teaser shared as real incident of Love Jihad story

The video does not show real story it is a teaser of an upcoming film named Kerala Story by Vipul Amrutlal Shah

On social media, a video of a lady wearing a burqa recounting her struggles to change from nursing aspirant Shalini Unnikrishnan to ISIS terrorist Fatima Ba is going viral with narrative of Love Jihad.

The caption of the video states, “About 32,000 Hindu girls converted, raped, killed and buried in desert sands in Syria. This is the love jihad story of Kerala”.

The same video was also shared on Facebook with different caption.

Fact Check-

We discovered “The Kerala Story” inscribed in the final frame of the viral video after closely examining it. Following the hint searched Google for “The Kerala Story,” which took us to numerous news articles that elaborated on the teaser release of Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s film of the same name.  ‘The Kerala Story’ is directed and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah under the banner of Sunshine Pictures. The teaser was also uploaded to the YouTube channel Sunshine Pictures on November 3.

The caption to the video reads, “Heartbreaking and gut-wrenching stories of 32,000 females in Kerala! Coming Soon!

Video shows a Muslim woman in front of the international border narrating her story. The character played by actress Adah Sharma says that earlier she used to be Shalini Unnikrishnan and wanted to serve the people as a nurse. She further tells that she was forcefully converted to Islam and renamed Fatima Ba, and subsequently sent to ISIS to become a terrorist and ultimately get locked up in an Afghanistan jail. We also looked through Adah Sharma’s social media profiles. Her tweet with the full version of the viral video posted on November 3, 2022 can be seen here.

The film was based on the issue of conversion and terrorism in Kerala. According to Cinema Express report, in a statement, writer-director Sudipto Sen said, “As per a recent investigation, since 2009 – nearly 32,000 girls from Kerala and Mangalore from Hindu and Christian communities have been converted to Islam and most of them end up landing in Syria, Afghanistan, and other ISIS and Haqqani influential areas! Despite accepting these facts, the government is hardly contemplating any definitive action plan against such huge international conspiracies led by ISIS-influenced groups”.

We looked for reports to back up the film’s claim that 32,000 Kerala Hindu women were converted to Islam and sold to ISIS, and could not really find any.

Conclusion-
Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral video to be misleading. The teaser of an upcoming movie named Kerala Story shared as real incident.
