Video from Assam shared as recent blast in Barabanki, UP

The caption of the video states, “Gas Blastcase Barabanki.”

Fact Check-

We started our investigation by running a reverse image search on Google, whose results led us to the same video published by a Twitter user on 21 August 2022 stating that the video shows a cylinder blast incident in Bhangagharh, Guwahati, Assam on 20 August 2022.

Keeping this in mind, we ran another keyword search to find relevant news reports. The results led us to a report by Guwahati Plus on 20 August 2022. They state that the video shows a massive fire that broke out in the Bhangagarh area of Guwahati on August 20, at around 10:30 AM inside a biryani shop. The shop is located on the ground floor of a building below the Bhangagarh flyover.

According to India Today NE, a large fire erupted at a restaurant below the Bhangagarh Flyover in Guwahati . The fire Brigade arrived at the location immediately. There were no injuries or casualties. 

NorthEast Live reported that a major fire broke out in Guwahati’s busy Bhangagarh Tiniali area. As per inputs, the inferno broke out following an LPG cylinder explosion at a sweet shop. The shops and buildings in the vicinity also suffered considerable damage in the fire accident. Eight fire tenders were pressed into service to control the fire. This was reported on 20 August 2022.

Next, we searched for news reports about any recent blasts in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh. However, we could not find any relevant news reports.

Conclusion-
Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral video to be Partly False. The viral video shows a gas cylinder blast that took place in Guwahati, Assam in August this year. The video is not from Barabanki.
