Did this man break the TV after Pakistan lost the T20 World Cup match?

The video dates back to 2016, depicting a Turkish man trying to watch a football match who was actually pranked by his girlfriend.

India beat Pakistan by four wickets in the T20 World Cup match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Melbourne, Australia, on October 23. After the defeat, a video of a man allegedly breaking his television while watching the India vs. Pakistan T20 world cup match has gone viral on social media.The caption of the video states, “Pakistan fan has broken his tv after lost Pakistan against India match”

But on investigation we found that these scenes have nothing to do with the recent T20 cricket match

This video was also shared on Twitter by former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag.

Fact Check- 

When we did a reverse image search of the key frames of the viral video, we found a YouTube video. The viral video footage in the video was uploaded on June 15, 2016, with a description “TURKISH MAN DESTROYS TV & MACBOOK AFTER WIFE PRANKS HIM”

In further search we found media reports regarding this. According to the Sun report, there was a match going on between Turkey and Croatia during Euro 2016. A Turkish football fan named Izzet Salti and his wife were watching the game. When his wife began asking questions about the match, this person became irritated and asked his wife to leave the room. Following that, the wife used her smartphone to turn on and off the television. Because of the interruptions in the game, this man became enraged and broke his laptop into two pieces, as well as his TV.

The viral video was digitally edited by replacing visuals of a football match on television with those of a cricket match.

Taking account of this evidence, we can understand that the viral video of a man smashing a TV set while watching a match was digitally edited and has been falsely linked to Pakistan’s recent World Cup defeat to India.

Conclusion- 

Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral video to be False. The video has been edited by swapping visuals of a football match playing on the TV set with that of the cricket match.
