No. This is not an image of the train after an accident in Europe.

Recently, Vande Bharat Express met with two accidents in which the engine’s front portion got severely damaged. According to sources, the front part of the train was damaged as it collided with the herd of cattle twice. 

In this context, an image of a damaged train is going viral on social media. Many users are claiming that the image is from Europe. 

However, Fact Crescendo found that this image is not from Europe but from an African country. 

What’s The Claim?

Sharing this image, social media users are claiming that the image of this damaged train engine is from Europe. Along with this, it is said that, in the modern era, the nose cones of engines are made of fiber so that the animals will only get hurt in case of an accident.

Fact Check- 

A Google Reverse Image search on the viral pic led us to a Xinhua News website on which the same image was published on 21 March 2022. According to the report, this image is from Tunis, the capital city of Tunisia which is an African country. This incident took place after two trains collided with each other. 72 people were reported injured and were taken to a nearby hospital.

The same image was uploaded on the Alamy website, mentioning that this incident took place on 21 March 2022 in Tunis, Tunisia when two trains collided with each other. 

The Tap News Agency tweeted the images of both the trains that collided in Tunisia. According to the report, 95 people were injured in Tunis. None of the passengers were severely wounded except the driver who suffered serious hand injuries. 

Conclusion: 

Fact Crescendo found the claim to be misleading. The image of the damaged engine of a train is not from Europe but from an African country, Tunisia.
