Video of Independence Day rally viral as glimpses of Bharat Jodo Yatra

The video does not show the Bharat Jodo Yatra rally organized by Congress.

As the Congress’s Bharat Jodo Yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, led by Rahul Gandhi, completed a week, the party indicated that it could embark on another yatra from Gujarat to Arunachal Pradesh next year. The party said that the objective of the rally is to ensure that the concerns and demands of the people reach Delhi.

Amidst this, a video showing a large crowd of people rallying on the road with Indian flags in their hands is widely circulating on social media with the claim that it shows the third day of the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ rally organized by Congress.

The caption of the post states, “Third day of Bharat Jodo Yatra. Rahul Gandhi is succeeding in bringing hope to the people of India. The country has started returning to self-confidence. This is the sight of this morning!

Fact Check- 

We started our investigation by running a reverse image search on Google whose results led us to a video posted by a Facebook user named “Yasir Mushtaq” on 15 August 2022. The caption of the post states “Massive crowd in Freedom March of Congress in Bengaluru.”

According to the description of the video, it is from Bengaluru showing the Freedom March organized by Congress. It is to be noted that the Congress started their ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ on 7 September 2022.Since the video has been available on the internet since 15 August, it is clear that the video is not from the Bharat Jodo Yatra rally.

A keyword search led us to a news report published by Public TV on 15 August 2022. According to the report, thousands of Congress workers participated in Freedom March headed by DK Shivakumar & Siddaramaiah. According to Dainik Jagran, on the 75th year of India’s independence to celebrate this the Karnataka Congress organized a Freedom March on 15 August in Bengaluru.

Conclusion- 

Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral video to be Partly False. The video does not show the glimpse of the third day of the Bharat Jodo Yatra rally organized by Congress. The video shows the Independence Day rally organized by the Congress in Bengaluru.
