Video of a naked man falling to death from the Buckingham Palace is from a TV series.

The video is not a real incident instead it was a part of an American TV shows “The Royals” which aired from 2015-18

After the death of the UK’s longest living monarch, social media has witnessed several unrelated videos and images shared with misleading claims. One such video showing a naked man climbing out of the window of Buckingham Palace with the help of a bed sheet is widely circulating on social media. Users claim that this man fell to his death trying to escape from the window of Buckingham Palace.

The caption of the post states, “I’m guessing all those standing right now in front of Buckingham palace paying their respects, have forgotten this from a few years ago. A naked young man escaping from the palace through a window with the help of some bed sheets! He fell to his death.”

Fact Check- 

We started our investigation by running a keyword search on Google, whose results led us to a news report by the Daily Mail UK published on 27 February 2015. According to the report, the Metropolitan Police said they have not received any reports of a naked man dangling from a Buckingham Palace window. The London Ambulance Service said they had not received any calls to treat a naked man suffering from injuries sustained from a fall from a rope made of bed sheets.

According to the E Online website, this video was a promotional video for E! Entertainment’s TV series, “The Royals”. The show that ran from 2015 to 2018 was about a fictional modern-day British royal family. The clip was a never-before-seen extended footage of the scandal” from D-Throned, an online tabloid covering E!’s fictional modern day royal family from The Royals.

The viewers can see that the naked man was actually escaping from Princess Eleanor’s (Alexandra Park) chambers in the TV series “The Royals.”

We found that the D-Throned, a tabloid run by E! to promote the show “The Royals”, also tweeted about the clip of the naked man in March 2015.

Conclusion- 

Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the video to be False. The viral video does not show a real incident where a naked man was spotted climbing out of the window of Buckingham Palace and finally falling to his death. The video was originally a part of a promotional video for ‘The Royals’ which was an American TV series about a fictional British royal family that ran from 2015 to 2018.
