As reports of protests and violence emerge from different parts of the country over the controversial comments made by former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma, several videos and images of protests have started popping up on social media platforms.
Amidst this, a video showing a huge crowd of Naga sadhu rallying towards one direction is widely circulating on social media with the claim that it shows Naga Sadhus have come together in support of Nupur Sharma.
The caption of the post states, “Now Naga Sadhus are out in the field for #NupurSharma”

Fact Check-
We started our investigation by running a reverse image search onyandex on one of the key frames of the viral video. We found many similar looking YouTube videos. We found the same video posted on 10 March 2019, the title of the video broadcast by “YouTube Junction” reads, “Watch the conclusion of Kumbh Mela, see how many sadhus came together, this is the Indian heritage.”
A longer version of this video has been uploaded on YouTube on 5th march 2019 with the title, “Amazing scene of Prayagraj Kumbh Mela 2019 Mahakal’s procession.”
This video was shared in 2020 with the claim that it shows Naga Sadhus protesting against CAA and NRC. You can read the complete Fact Check here.

Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral image to be false. The video has no relation with Nupur Sharma’s comment. It is from Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj in 2019.
