The film “The Kashmir Files” directed by Vivek Agnihotri has been among the top trends on social media and topic of discussion and debates on the mainstream media. The film is based on the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus during the Kashmir insurgency.

Meanwhile, social media users sharing a video of BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani getting emotional claimed that Lal Krishna Advani wept after watching the Kashmir Files.

What is in the video?

In this video, Lal Krishna Advani is crying while sitting in a theatre and some people sitting next to him are comforting him.

The caption of the post, “Lal Krishna Advani ji had himself reached the cinema hall to watch “The Kashmir Files” even at this age, probably could not stop himself and cried. Think how terrible and barbaric that scene must have been, which our Kashmiri Hindus themselves must have endured.#TheKashmirFiles.”

We started our investigation by running a keyword search on Google, which led us to the same video published by India TV on 7 February 2020. The caption of the video “LK Advani gets emotional after watching Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Shikara.” 

The description clearly states that LK Advani got emotional after watching the movie Shikara. The film is based on the love story of a Kashmiri Pandit couple at the peak of insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir during the 1990s and the subsequent exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Kashmir Valley. The film was released on 7 February 2020. 

Vidhu Vinod Chopra Films posted this video on their official Twitter handle on 7 February 2020 stating that LK Advani got emotional at the special screening of Shikara.
