FACT CHECK: Amul has not announced any contest with Cash Prize to commemorate its 75th Anniversary Celebrations

Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (GCMMF) or Amul, a dairy cooperative based in Anand, Gujarat is India’s largest food product organization. Even as the organization celebrates its 75^th Anniversary in 2021, a number of links are going viral on messaging platforms claiming that Amul is giving out cash to winners of a contest. The message asks the user to click on the accompanying link to participate. 

Such messages were received by Fact Crescendo on its 24×7 WhatsApp Factline number 904 905 3770 with users requesting us to verify the authenticity of the contest. Archived Link

Fact Crescendo found that the claim is False. Though Amul is indeed celebrating its 75^th Anniversary but it has not announced any such contest. Here’s the Fact Check:

Fact Check Methodology

First, we checked the official website of Amul Dairy but failed to find any such announcement on any page.

Following this, we checked Amul’s official Twitter account for any such information and saw a post dated October 6, 2021, which has been pinned to the top, clarifying that the viral messages are Fake and that Amul is not organizing any such campaign. The post requests users to avoid clicking the viral links.
