Photo-shopped photo: Alka Lamba’s T-shirt does not have the election symbol of Congress Party.

On November 4th 2019, a Facebook user named “Parikshan Yadav” posted a picture and wrote in the headline that “Lamba madam jaante hai ki koee EVM par panja dabaane ki koshish na karega. Aisa ashleel prachaar chunaav ke vakt pratibandhit ho. Chunaav aayog turant sangyaan lein”. This picture is of Alka Lamba, Congress MP from Chandni Chowk in Delhi. In this picture shared on social media, we can see the election symbol of the Congress party, ‘hand’ printed on her T-shirt. Through this picture, it is being claimed that the Congress MP Alka Lamba is campaigning for the election by pointing towards the party’s symbol ‘hand’, which has been printed on her T-shirt.

We started the investigation by taking a screenshot of this picture by doing a Google Reverse Image Search. As a result, we found Tweets by Alka Lamba’s official Twitter account on Twitter. On August 15th 2019, the Congress MP tweeted in which she uploaded the picture along with some other pictures. In these pictures, the Indian flag is pinned on her T.shirt and not the election symbol of the Congress party. In the tweet, “Ae watan mere watan azad rahe tu” is written.

Below you can see a comparative analysis of the viral picture on social media and the original picture tweeted by Alka Lamba. In the original picture we can clearly see that the flag of India pinned on her T-shirt and not the election symbol of the Congress party. The election symbol of the Congress party has been added on her T-shirt using photoshop.

Conclusion: We found the above post wrong after checking the facts. In the original picture, the Indian flag is pinned on the T-shirt worn by Alka Lamba, Viral photos on social media have been tampered with using photoshop to make it look like the Congress party symbol is printed on her T.shirt.
